Prof. Fortunato T. de la Peña, USec “Boy” to those who know him as former undersecretary for S&T Services, is back as DOST’s top man.

After a rigorous process of screening for the next head of the Department of Science and Technology, President Rodrigo R. Duterte appointed former DOST Undersecretary Fortunato T. de la Peña to the top post. De la Peña is no stranger to the science agency as he spent a great number of years at the DOST in different capacities and retired from the service as Undersecretary for S&T Services just last year.

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines-- The locally-developed educational tool called STARBOOKS has gained much interest in the province of Quezon after it was first installed in the province in 2014. After its installation, various private and public schools in Quezon requestedthis knowledge product from the Department of Science and Technology ‘s Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII), the developer of STARBOOKS.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) opens its doors to the public as it leads the nation in celebrating the 2016 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), dubbed as “Juan Science, One Nation” on 25-29 July.
