Health member-researchers of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) secure four wins at the 16th Philippine Health Research System (PNHRS), a platform for researchers, experts, and enthusiasts to showcase their groundbreaking contributions and innovative approaches to health research.
Emerson Paul D. Somontan and Prince Eroll V. Reyes, Level 4 Radiologic Technology students of Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) were awarded first place for both Oral Research Paper Presentation and Research Poster Contest (Student Category) with their innovative research on the Development of X-ray shielding material using egg shells and crab shells.

DOST champions sustainable techs for the 2023 NSTW in Iloilo City

Sustainable technologies supported by the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies Research and Development or DOST PCIEERD are to be showcased during the 2023 National, Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW) celebration in Iloilo City from November 22 to 26.
The DOST PCIEERD champions techs such as the Electric Tricycle (e-Trike), Converted Electric Tricycle (c-Trike), Flexible Electric Vehicle, LPG Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) Using an OEM Vehicle Platform, and Vehicle-to-Everything Initiatives for Road Safety (VIROS) at the 2023 NSTW Main S&T Exhibits in Iloilo Convention Center and the SESSY Boat at the Lawud S&T Exhibits in JBL Maritime Vanguard.

DOST calls on HS studes to vie for the first nat’l Nuclear Science Olympiad

The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is calling Filipino Junior and Senior High School students, or those in Grades 9 to 12, from public or private secondary schools in the Philippines, to join the First Philippine Nuclear Science Olympiad (1st PNSO) to be held this December.
To qualify, participating students must not be more than18 years old and must not be in enrolled or admitted in a university/college by 7 August 2024. This is because the winners in the PNSO will vie in the First International Nuclear Science Olympiad (1st INSO) to be held in the country on 31 July to 07 August 2024. Like the PNSO, the INSO is open only to high school students.

DOST, PNRI researchers get gold, silver & special awards in Korean invention fair

Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-developed technologies slammed it out in the recently concluded Seoul International Invention Fair or SIIF 2023 held in Seoul, South Korea, held 01-04 Nov. 2023.
Bagging major awards are DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute researchers who brought home gold and silver for the Hemostat Technology and Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter (PGP), respectively.
Hemostat Technology also bagged two more special awards: Excellent Efforts in Creating an Invention by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) and Best International Invention and Innovation by the National Research Council of Thailand.
