The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launched the 2014 MSME Packaging Innovation Award last July 26, 2014 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, during the ongoing National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).

A nationwide competition among MSMEs or micro, small and medium enterprises with packaging innovations from DOST, the awards highlight the critical role of packaging in business operations.

The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) water filter technology, a ceramic filter with nano anti-microbial coating, is on display at the ongoing National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Developed by DOST’s Industrial Technology Development Institute, the filter, which is lodged in a plastic container, is made of red clay and coated with nano anti-microbial agent to eliminate waterborne microorganisms. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) officials encouraged housewives, mothers, and other women in San Pablo City, Laguna to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the country’s readiness for the coming ASEAN economic integration in 2015 during a technology forum last June.

The forum titled “Communicating Science Through Relevant Technologies for Women Entrepreneurs” which carried the theme Pinay: Angat sa Kaalaman, Abot-kamay ang Kaunlaran, was held at San Pablo City’s DLSP Gym in cooperation with the City of San Pablo City Women’s Confederation and other organizations.
