The seventh annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals was held in hybrid format at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, on 5-6 May 2022. 

The Philippine Statement delivered by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña at the Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) featured the DOST’s scientific efforts in recovering from the pandemic and contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.

Out of over 10 million bachelor’s degree holders among the Filipino household members, 3.7 million or 37 percent are graduates of S&T-related degrees, and of these 44.6 percent are females.

This is based on the Women in Science study of the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) which used 1990-2015 data collected by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I (DOST-I) -Food Innovation Center (FIC) staff and representatives of other DOST Provincial S&T Centers (PSTCs) attended the 3-day online training on Processing of Non-wheat Flour from Local Crops. It was organized and facilitated by the DOST- Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) held on 27-28 March & 5 April 2022. 

The objective of the training was to train food trainers from different regions of DOST and FIC to ensure successful implementation of various technology transfer activities as part of the support service of the DOST that are given to the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) beneficiaries in the region.
