The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I (DOST-I) started implementing the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program in three barangays [communities] in Mapandan, Pangasinan through the conduct of the community needs assessment (CNA) on 7-8 April 2022 as the first step towards helping these communities to level up.
CEST beneficiary-barangays that were identified by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mapandan are Barangays Luyan, Torres and Sta. Maria.

The Department of Science and Technology in Region I (DOST-I), in partnership with Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), conducted the Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (STARBOOKS) user’s training and orientation and signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) spearheaded by the Science and Technology Program Promotion Center last 31 March 2022.
The purpose of the training is to capacitate the university libraries’ clienteles in the field of science, technology, and innovation and to maximize the use of DOST services and resources. It is also to strengthen the university partnership with DOST Region I in promoting STARBOOKS. Through STARBOOKS, university libraries can provide better services and relevant information to their customers’ needs.

The Department of Science and Technology Region I (DOST-I), in collaboration with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo, featured the DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development’s (PCAARRD) Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) in its tenth episode of Tekno PreSyensya 2022: Syensya ken Teknolohiya para kadagiti Umili, on 7 April 2022 via Zoom and aired in the DOST-I Facebook page.
The episode was attended by DOST-I Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Racquel M. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields in the Philippines have become appealing to more and more Filipino women.
Researchers from the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) recently found that there is significant increase in the number of females in the field of STEM. The study titled “Women in Science” focused on the state of Filipino women and girls pursuing careers in STEM and was launched last 31 March as part of DOST-SEI's celebration of women’s month.
