Three new members of the NRCP Governing Board—(L -R) Dr. Lawrence P. Dacuycuy, NRCP Division VIII (Social Sciences) chair, Dr. Michael Angelo B. Promentilla, NRCP Division VII (Engineering and Industrial Research) chair, and Dr. Gisela P. Concepcion, Member-at-Large—recite their oath (‘Panunumpa’) administered by DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña witnessed by the NRCP GB members and staff on 29 March 2022 at the Meeting Room 3, Philippine International Convention Center, during the Organizational Meeting of the NRCP Governing Board.
The National Research Council of the Philippines of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NRCP) inducted three new and five reelected members of its Governing Board (GB) on 29 March 2022 at the Meeting Room 3, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.

DOST Region I conducts training on tilapia farming in 3 municipalities of Ilocos Sur

The Department of Science and Technology Region I (DOST-I), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center – Ilocos Sur (PSTSC-IS), conducted series of trainings on Good Aquaculture Practices and Training on Fish Health Management on Tilapia Production at Caoayan and Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on 9-10 March 2022.
Forty-five (45) participants joined the training from the two sites with seventeen (17) coming from Caoayan and Sta Catalina and twenty-eight (28) participants from Cabugao.

Great news to the Philippine abaca industry! A locally developed abaca fiber-extracting machine made safe and effective by the DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute.
The Department of Science and Technology – Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) has finally come up with a solution to one of our abaca farmers’ biggest concerns: a fiber-extracting machine that is both safe and effective.

Empowering communities to fight COVID-19 and malnutrition in Davao del Sur with DOST’s CEST program

To combat COVID-19 and reduce the prevalence of malnutrition, especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS), the Department of Science and Technology Region XI through the Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Sur (PSTC - DS) and in partnership with the Cor Jesu College - Br. Polycarp iComDev Foundation Inc (CJC - BPICDFI), successfully deployed two (2) units of foot - operated handwashing kiosks, two (2) units foot baths, one (1) unit blood pressure monitoring device, and supplementary feeding supplies to Barangay Saliducon, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. The turnover of healthcare devices held last month is as part of the implementation of the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program.
