DOST grants Central Mindanao University with P2.9M for innovative food products

With the advent of the new normal, innovations in food production have become an integral part of the food industry to attain food resiliency and ensure food security. These innovations have become the priority areas of the research and development (R&D) agenda, particularly in the fields of industry, energy, and emerging technologies in the region.
In response, the Department of Science and Technology Region X (DOST-X) recently funded a research proposal from the Central Mindanao University entitled “Spray Drying of Fruit Vegetable Juice Blends from Abundant and Underutilized Food Crops in Bukidnon” which amounts to more than Php 2.9million.

Davao Occidental – Half million worth of S&T intervention was granted by the Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST-XI) to the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) as part of its implementation of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) project in the province.

DOST welcomes new FAO Country Representative in PH, discusses future collaborations

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), led by Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, welcomed Kati Tanninen, the new Country Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in the Philippines on 17 May 2021.
On the said occasion, the DOST and FAO discussed strengthening and expanding its collaborations on forecast-based financing, aquaculture science and technology, food and nutrition, and communication campaigns. The Department was also joined by the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.
