Study reveals Zambales town as highest source of natural hydrogen gas

A recent study revealed that natural gas from the Nagsasa seep in San Antonio, Zambales, has the highest recorded gas seepage capable of producing renewable energy to meet the power demands of the town.
These gas seeps, also known as “outgassing,” have released a record 800 tons of geologic hydrogen. This amount surpasses the previous record of 200 tons reported in Albania in 2024.

In a proactive campaign to foster an equal and inclusive society through science, technology, and innovation (STI), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) and DOST-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR), signed a Technology Services Agreement (TSA) with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders Philippines – Professionals for Autism Foundation, Inc. (CARD Phils-PAFI), on June 4, 2025, at the Office of the Secretary Conference Room, DOST Central Office Building, Bicutan, Taguig City.

Science and Technology Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. said that the Philippines is open to working with fellow Member States to explore avenues to enhance accessibility of funds for addressing risks associated with climate change, such as displacement, relocation, and migration.
