“Let the festival of innovation and inspiration begin!”
These were the words of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. as he officially welcomed the student participants during the vibrant opening ceremony of the 2024 National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF).
Upholding its commitment to promoting science and technology (S&T) among the youth, DOST launched the 2024 NYSTIF on 18 September at the Philippine International Convention Center Forum Tent in Pasay City. This marks the second year of the youth STI festival, which started in 2023.

DOST-STII inks deal with 4 schools to equip students with SciComm skills

The Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster stronger ties and to establish a long-term and sustainable partnership with its partner academic institutions on 29 August 2024.
With its mandate to undertake training in Science and Technology Information, the DOST-STII has been conducting training and workshop activities across the country, under the Science Journo Ako advocacy program.

Science department ignites creativity in Video Production: SCALEUP Workshop Empowers Young Visual Storytellers

Participants from the Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School joins the organizers from the Science and Technology Information Institute’s SCALEUP. The capacity building program gives student the opportunity to build their skills in video production, which includes script writing, basic video shoot, and video editing. 10 SEPTEMBER 2024, TAGUIG CITY, MANILA — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in crucial areas of climate change, green and circular economy, renewable energy, and digital readiness.
The MOU will support the implementation of the DOST Strategic Plan 2023-2028 and the UNDP Country Programme Document 2024-2028 through enhanced strategic cooperation in addressing complex challenges, including energy transition, building smart and sustainable communities, and accelerating the active participation of the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) community in development initiatives, among others. Central to this cooperation is accelerating the active participation of the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) community in strategic multi-stakeholder collaborations, including the Green Economy Programme in the Philippines (GEPP) of the European Union (EU) towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
