At the onset of the celebration of the National Intellectual Property (IP) Month, Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) emphasized how IP serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative solutions essential for shaping a brighter future.
"As we celebrate National IP Month, let us remember that Intellectual Property is not solely about protecting ideas; it's about leveraging them to address global challenges. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a roadmap for creating a better world, and IP is a key tool in achieving those goals," said Sec. Solidum during the DOST’s Virtual Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, April 01, 2024.

DOST official shares PH efforts on gender digital gap and AI education for women at international conference

Official from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) shared how the Philippine government try to overcome gender digital divide and ensure that women gain access to transformative technologies, while also safeguarding them from potential harm caused by Artificial Intelligence.
In an interactive dialogue for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York City on 22 March 2024, DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) Director Franz de Leon emphasized the reaffirming commitment of the country to leveraging technology to promote gender equality during the interactive dialogue on the emerging issue of Artificial Intelligence to advance gender equality.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PAGASA) recently held a press conference on the status of the ongoing El Niño and La Niña watch, the official termination of the Amihan season, and the launching of the "Updated climate projection in the Philippines" last 22 March 2024.
The press conference was also held in line with the agency’s celebration of the 159th National and 74th World Metrological Day being commemorated annually, every 23rd of March.
“Today, we officially declare the start of the Philippines summer based on analysis of the latest forecast,” said DOST-PAGASA Administrator, Dr. Nathaniel Servando.

Indulge a little sweet treat and experience an instant boost of comfort that will make your day even better as the Department of Science Technology- Industrial Technology Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ITDI) introduced recently developed globally competitive Halal Compliant Instant Chocolate beverages during “2024 Cacao Cultural Ceremony on Shelf-Stable Beverages from Philippine Tablea” held on 22 February 2024, at the DOST-ITDI, STICA-KM Platform in Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
Cacao was first introduced to the Philippines during the Spanish colonization in the 17th century through the Galleon Trade. The primary areas for the cultivation of cacao at that time were Batangas, Laguna, and Cebu. The increasing popularity of cacao led to a significant innovation in the taste and food history of our country. It gave rise to Filipino hot "tsokolate" or "sikwate" which is now enjoyed by many Filipinos.
