The Department of Science and Technology-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) featured the latest advancements in wood and non-wood forest technologies and facilities at their office during the visit of members of the House of Representatives on 22 February 2024.
Led by the House Committee on Science and Technology Member and 2nd District of Zamboanga del Sur Representative Jeyzel Victoria C. Yu, the group was joined by the legislative and congressional delegates of the Committees on Aquaculture and Fisheries Resources; Agriculture and Food; Natural Resources; Tourism; Rural Development; Climate Change; Agrarian Reform; Ecology; Reforestation; Disaster Risk Resilience; and Committee Affairs Department Economic Cluster II.

Embarking on a STEM-exploration journey inside the yellow bus, the young Bataeños take the NuLab: STEM in Motion experience as one that they will never forget and one that they will forever be grateful for.
They see NuLab as a place where both fun and learnings perfectly blend in science, an extraordinary vehicle that brings science to life and engages young minds in the different scientific wonders and fascinations that surround life.
“The nulab experience was really fun and exciting. The [scientific] explanations were well done. It was truly engaging, and it’s definitely one experience that I will always remember,” said Gabriel Barbosa, Grade 10 student from Pagalanggang National High School.

DOST ensures startup’s growth thru piloting, business incubation

The DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) helped a Laguna-based agro-forest farm by providing technical assistance through its incubation and piloting program.
The Adoress Farm is an incubatee in a collaboration between Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) and DOST-FPRDI. It is being assisted in the production of hand soaps made from natural materials through DOST-FPRDI’s Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Program and Piloting of Select FPRDI Technologies Project.

DOST scientists, researchers bag Outstanding Government Workers award for 2023

On 14 February 2024, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) honored several government workers for their notable contributions and significant achievement that had great impact to different sectors and communities in the country.
Among the awardees were scientists, researchers, and experts from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The ceremony for the 2023 Search for Outstanding Government Workers was held at the Malacañang Palace, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. himself leading the ceremony.
