What sets PTF apart is not just the sourcing of raw materials but also the commitment to processing and sustaining these fibers entirely within the country.

DOST Region 1 supports the 2024 National Time Consciousness Week

In a concerted effort to bring scientific information and technological advancements closer to the people, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. 1 (DOST-1) collaborated with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo to present the 1st Episode of the radio program titled "Tekno Presyensya: Syensya ken Teknolohiya para kadagiti Umili" on 11 January 2024. The event took place via the Zoom platform and Facebook Live and was broadcast live on DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo FM radio.
The episode centered around the celebration of the 2024 National Time Consciousness Week, themed "G na G, Oras Pinas para sa Bagong Pilipinas", featuring Engr. Mario M. Raymundo, Chief of the Astronomical Publication and Planetarium Unit of DOST-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA). Science chief, DOST officials visit 3 SETUP projects in Ilocos Region

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), led by Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr., concluded a visit to three (3) Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) projects in the Ilocos Region on 10 January 2024 in Agoo, La Union and 12 January 12 in Tubao, La Union and Sta, Barbara, Pangasinan, respectively.
The objective of the visit was to showcase the achievements and overall development of the enterprises facilitated by the technical and technological support provided by the DOST. This will serve as showcase of the possible benefits of science, technology, and innovation in improving business operations.

National University of Singapore students visit DOST-FPRDI

A group of students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) visited the Forest Products Research and Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FPRDI) last 5 January 2024 to learn and talk about possible collaborations involving the institute’s Bamboo Musical Instruments (BMI) Innovation R&D Program.
The trip was part of their academic course that requires students to craft and implement capstone projects that will “promote positive social impact to a community in need.” Focusing on the Arts and Design cluster, the students are exploring the possibility of training out-of-school youth on BMI making.
The students were met by DOST-FPRDI OIC-Director Dr. Rico J. Cabangon, BMI Program Leader Forester Aralyn Q. Cortiguerra, and Technical Services Division’s Forester Zenaida R. Reyes.
