Matapos ang mga ulat nang matinding pagbuga ng makapal na usok at abo at makapagtala ng phreatic eruption ang Bulkang Bulusan kaninang 10:37 ng umaga, Hunyo 5, Linggo, hindi muna nirerekomenda ng Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) ang pagpapalikas sa mga residenteng malapit sa nasabing bulkan.
Ito ang sinabi ni Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., ang DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services at tumatayong Officer-in-Charge ng DOST-PHIVOLCS sa kanyang naging panayam sa segment ng “Bantay Bulkan” sa DOSTv. Aniya ang mga barangay na nasa paligid ng Bulkan Bulusan ay nasa labas naman ng tinatawag na apat na kilometrong permanent danger zone.
University-developed coco dehusker ready to hit the market

A coconut dehusking technology developed by a team of local researchers and innovators in Zamboanga del Norte is ready for commercialization. A team from Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Tampilisan Campus (JRMSU-TC) confirmed this in their pitch during the Demo Day of Project TransDI in late April 2022.
Prof. Yhebron J. Lagud, the team’s entrepreneurial lead, said they are looking for partners to commercialize said technology dubbed as “SAFitek Coco Dehusker”. “We are looking for business partners, fabricators, distributors who want to produce and distribute the SAFitek Coco Dehusker,” he told the participants of the Demo Day, composed of industry stakeholders, Project TransDI mentors, and other researchers and innovators all over the country.

Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental- True to their calling as the new breed of patriots, some 28 scholars of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) have participated recently in the “Training on Emergency First Aid” by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Negros Oriental Chapter held on May 6, 2022, at the Negros Oriental State University-Main Campus I (NORSU).
The said training is part of the Patriot Scholar Program of the DOST-Science Education Institute in partnership with DOST Negros Oriental.
