Philippines’ Diwata-1 blasts off to int’l space station

Diwata-1, the Philippines’ first microsatellite, took off at 11:05 today from the National Aeronautics and Space Administrationin Camp Canaveral, Florida, USA to the International Space Station where it will be calibrated before foraying into mission. Diwata-1 was aboard Cygnus, an American automated cargo spacecraft designed to transport supplies to the International Space Station.

Katipunan Barangay Chairwoman Paz Maglangit (2nd from left) in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley reads the deed of assignment for the turnover of the land to the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 11. The field testing for the Integrated Gold-Copper Mineral Processing Pilot Plant will be constructed in Brgy. Katipunan and is expected to benefit small scale miners in the area.
