A Pinoy-made Mobile Lab to detect African Swine Fever and Avian Influenza is now on its way to Bukidnon. The unit is scheduled for a grand launch event on Friday, October 28, 2022.
A scientific solution on wheels to detect animal diseases like the African Swine Fever (ASF) and Avian Influenza (AI) is on its way to Bukidnon.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Business Innovation through S&T (BIST) Program funded the Mobile Laboratory Unit (MLU) equipped with state-of-the-art animal health diagnostic technologies. It was designed and created by a local veterinary research and diagnostics company known as BioAssets Corporation. The MLU will be donated to Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Maramag, Bukidnon on Friday, October 28, 2022 during a Grand Launching and Turnover Ceremony.

DOST’s OneLab Program seeks Legislative support

The One-stop Laboratory Services for Global Competitiveness (OneLab) program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in recent years, has gained significant traction due to its high return rates for its services.
The program advocates its sustainability to provide testing and calibration services to over 500,000 customers through its institutionalization. OneLab’s initiative for a unified laboratory information management system partnered with 57 network members of local and international laboratories accredited to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 expanded its capabilities to engage with Metrology, Rubber, Halal, Food and Drinking Water Safety, Food Innovation Centers, and SETUP, with plans to broaden laboratory services. OneLab collected a total of Php724,064,255.27 from 2017 to 2021, equivalent to an average of Php144,812,851 fees collected annually, and has since been reverted to the national treasury.
DOST showcases fishery, agro-forestry, ecotourism technologies during Caraga science fair

The Caraga region is being eyed to become the Fishery, Agro-Forestry, Mineral, and Ecotourism or FAME Center of the country. In a report shared by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), all provinces in the region will focus their efforts on developing and utilizing its abundant natural endowments such as agriculture, fishery and aquaculture, forestry, mineral, and ecotourism.
Because of this, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), has remained proactive in delivering its services, initiatives, and research and development (R&D) projects in the region that will play a crucial and significant role in translating development goals into reality, this according to a city official as the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) celebration in Caraga opened on 19 October 2022 at Robinson’s Place in Butuan City.
In a message from Butuan City Vice Mayor Lawrence Lemuel H. Fortun which was delivered by City Councilor Cherry May G. Busa, the local official acknowledged the efforts of DOST-Caraga in the areas of R&D as well as various scientific and technical services and in helping the region increase the productivity of its fishery and agro-forestry sectors. Likewise, the local official lauded the department for spearheading value-adding activities that harness the vast potentials of its eco-tourism industry.

DOST launches R&D programs on wealth creation, protection in CALABARZON during the science week

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) CALABARZON spearheaded the launching of several projects which are products of research and development (R&D) and would offer timely and appropriate solutions to some of the pressing issues and limitations that exist in the region.
The ceremonial turnover of Fiberglass Rescue Boats, the memorandum of agreement (MoA) signing of the “Adoption of the A-S-F-V Nanogold Biosensor Test Kit Technology for Faster and Cost-Effective Surveillance and Detection of the Dreaded African Swine Fever, and “Upgrading of Makapuno Laboratory and Nursery Facilities in Cavite State University were some of the highlights of the opening program of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) in CALABARZON held on October 17, 2022, at the Batangas State University (BatSU) National Engineering University.
“It is important to note that these projects are the products of our collaboration with different state universities and local government in the region to find innovative solutions to several problems of local areas and communities through conducting and implementing several R&D initiatives and efforts,” said DOST CALABARZON Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit.
