DOST Usec. Mabborang visits DOST-funded projects in Zamboanga City

On 13 July 2022, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, along with his team and DOST-IX officials and personnel led by Regional Director Martin A. Wee, visits six (6) S&T assisted projects in Zamboanga City. The visit aims to showcase the impact of DOST on the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Zamboanga Peninsula and check the growth of these MSMEs since the first DOST assistance was given to them.
He began his visit at RK Trading and Services located in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, where he was warmly welcomed by the firm’s proprietor, Ms. Rosella Tan. The firm is a Zamboanga City-based food manufacturer and maker of premium gourmet-style products, including bottled Spanish Style Sardines, Gourmet Tuyo, Sardine pâté, and Peanut Brittle.

Science and math teachers go beyond basics on social media and digital broadcasting content creation

With the continuous evolution of social media and other digital-based platforms, numerous opportunities and tools have become readily available, particularly when it comes to promoting products, services, and advocacies of our respective organizations.
With this in mind, the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) and the Association of Science and Mathematics Educators of the Philippine Private Schools (ASMEPPS) are working together to come up with activities and programs that would instill a culture of science among Filipino students and teachers using social media and the broadcast platform.
Region I invention contest winners share experiences in Tekno Presyensya radio program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union - The Department of Science and Technology Region I (DOST-I), together with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo, featured the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) winners on their weekly radio program titled Tekno Presyensya: Syensya ken Teknolohiya para kadagiti Umili, last 7 July 2022.
The program's first segment showcased the accomplishments of the regional and provincial S&T offices in the areas of Kabuhayan, Kaayusan, Kalusugan, and Kinabukasan.
Pn the other hand, Eilleen Fernando of the DOST- Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) gave a general description of NICE, its categories, and how it differs from the biennial Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE).

DOST encourages Ilocano students to apply for junior level scholarship

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union – This is the time of year that the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) calls for students with aptitude for science and mathematics to take advantage of the call for applicants to the DOST Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS).
DOST Region I has taken the call and encouraged students from the Ilocos Region to file their applications through the DOST Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program Campaign, done in collaboration with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo. The weekly radio program titled Tekno Presyensya: Syensya ken Teknolohiya para kadagiti Umili, aired the announcement on its 30 June 2022 episode.
