Level up with SETUP: DOST spurs new opportunities for DavSur MSMEs

Despite the challenges brought about by CoVID-19 and the New Normal, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST-XI), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Sur (PSTC DS), capitalized on new opportunities of extending assistance to two enterprises in Davao del Sur through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
Improvements brought by DOST’s S&T interventions were evident during the on-site project visit of Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO III, Regional Director of DOST-XI last 17 March 2022.
Maru Farm Development Corporation, a poultry dressing plant located in Inawayan, Sta. Cruz, was assisted by DOST-XI in acquiring various equipment for the upgrading of its poultry dressing facilities under SETUP. The firm was also able to avail of DOST’s Halal Assessment Consultancy Program and received training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for all its workforce.

DOST-FPRDI introduces bamboo wellness products in Davao Oriental

The Department of Science and Technology - Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI), in collaboration with the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Davao Oriental, introduced the bamboo-for-wellness products through the Bamboo Soap Making Technology Training conducted for selected participants in Davao Oriental last 17 March 2022 at the Baywalk Hotel, City of Mati.

DOST sends relief food products Batangas residents affected by Taal volcano eruption

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CALABARZON turned over S&T products as food relief to evacuees in the towns of Agoncillo and Laurel, Batangas who were affected by the recent phreatomagmatic events in Taal Volcano, April 06.
The food relief package was composed of enhanced nutribun and rice-mongo crunchies produced by DOST-Batangas cooperators. Enhanced nutribuns were sourced out from Sweetie Pies Pasalubong Center, adoptor of enhanced nutribun and cooperator under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program or SETUP. Rice-mongo crunchies, on the other hand, were procured from Samahan ng mga Inang Gabay at Lakas ng Aktibong Komunidad, a Grants-in-Aid community-based project beneficiary of the DOST.

Three new members of the NRCP Governing Board—(L -R) Dr. Lawrence P. Dacuycuy, NRCP Division VIII (Social Sciences) chair, Dr. Michael Angelo B. Promentilla, NRCP Division VII (Engineering and Industrial Research) chair, and Dr. Gisela P. Concepcion, Member-at-Large—recite their oath (‘Panunumpa’) administered by DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña witnessed by the NRCP GB members and staff on 29 March 2022 at the Meeting Room 3, Philippine International Convention Center, during the Organizational Meeting of the NRCP Governing Board.
The National Research Council of the Philippines of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NRCP) inducted three new and five reelected members of its Governing Board (GB) on 29 March 2022 at the Meeting Room 3, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.
