DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña and Assistant Secretary Leah J. Buendia were invited by 3M Philippines, Inc. to serve as judges at the Country-Level Semi-Finals of the 3M Inspire Challenge held virtually on 24 August 2021.
The 3M Inspire Challenge is an inaugural competition that aims to hunt for/inspire great ideas in Innovation, Sustainability, and Technology while supporting the next generation of great leaders, thinkers, and creators and will run from 23 April to 21 September 2021. The competition is open to students from all courses of study in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.

S&T Fellows to boost DOST’s R&D capacity

Taguig City, Metro Manila - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has approved a new program called “Science and Technology (S&T) Fellows”, to create a pool of S&T experts and innovators or "fellows", which will boost its research and development (R&D) capacity.
“With the country’s fight against COVID-19, we realized the need to double our S&T human resources here in our own home at DOST,” Sec. Fortunato T. de la Peña.

As the country grapples with the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) continues to find practical solutions that will help the Filipinos surpass these challenges.
The science department, backed by a strong pool of competent scientists, researchers, and innovators will present to the public the 21 high impact technologies and research and development (R&D) projects in the areas of health and nutrition, industry competitiveness, enterprise development, disaster management and risk reduction, education, and agriculture, among others.
