Sharing the commitment to support innovative startups as a way to boost national socioeconomic development, especially at this time when the government moves towards the new normal, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has joined hands with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to work together and help Filipino innovative startups get their bearings.

The time has come once more for all inventors, innovators and creative researchers to show their projects and shine with their creations in this year’s invention contest despite the pandemic.
The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) is now accepting entries to the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE), a nationwide activity conducted in different regions to recognize the indispensability of the Filipino inventors to Philippine society and their important contribution to national economic development.

DOST-FPRDI, DENR-FMB to develop mobile app for automated wood identification

Have you ever wondered what tree species your wooden furniture is made of?
Soon, your curiosity will be satisfied and you will be able to easily identify a piece of wood by just using your smartphone. This will be made possible through a mobile app being developed by the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) and DENR-Forest Management Bureau (DENR-FMB). This joint project by the two agencies aims to quickly and accurately identify selected wood species through a Wood Identification Mobile Phone Application using Android OS.
