Laguna LGU to mass-produce DOST-FPRDI’s bamboo-framed face shield

The Forest Products Research and Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FPRDI) and the local government of Cabuyao City recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the mass production of bamboo-framed face shields to augment the need for personal protective equipment for frontliners battling COVID-19.
Under the MOA, the DOST-FPRDI will provide the design, specifications and other requirements needed to produce the face shields. It will also give technical assistance on steam bending, the process wherein the bamboo strips for the frame are subjected to heat to flex them and become pliable to the desired form.

DOST XI distributes 15,000 face shields to frontliners in Davao Region

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) has begun the distribution of 15,000 units of face shields to medical and non-medical frontliners in Davao Region. Among the recipients of the face shields are health workers, security forces, and local government units (LGUs).

DOST XI turns over two SCBs to SPMC

The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) turned over two units of specimen collection booths (SCBs) to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City on June 23, 2020. These SCBs will serve as protective barrier between the medical frontliner and the suspected COVID-19 patient. Positive Pressure is maintained inside the booth using a pressure sensor to prevent outside contamination from getting inside the booth.
