The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has named the first set of nominees for the Philippine Smart and Sustainable Cities Awards, during the 3rd International Smart City Exposition and Networking Engagement (iSCENE) 2025, held at Cauayan City, Isabela.
Organized in the Philippines, iSCENE provides a venue for discussions, sharing of best practices, strategies, and exhibition of different innovative solutions from well-renowned international, national speakers and industry partners promoting the implementation of the Smart and Sustainable Communities Framework of DOST aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

DOST, UP Diliman partner to train future engineers

In line with its vision to strengthen industry-academe partnership, the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) has formalized an internship collaboration with the University of the Philippines Diliman - Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering (UPD DMMME) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

DOST acquires test corrosion machine to support local furniture manufacturers

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) acquired a new corrosion testing machine to ensure the durability, safety, and quality of metal furniture components to help boost local furniture manufacturers.
Corrosion testing guarantees that all metal parts of furniture, such as screws, bolts, nuts, frames, hinges, and fittings, meet the minimum requirement of international standards including ASTM B117, ISO 9227, and JIS Z 2371. This process ensures that furniture metal components are corrosion-resistant, long-lasting, and compliant with global quality benchmarks.
