Anatomy of a volcano

One of the attractions in the ongoing National Science and Technology Week 2015 of the Department of Science and Technology is a mock-up model of a volcano at the PHIVOLCS booth. The mock-up is presented in dissected form showing the different parts of a volcano which include the magma, crust and others. The science exhibit runs from July 24-28, 2015 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Other booths include science and technology tools and initiatives for agriculture, industry, small and medium enterprises, information and communications technology, e-government and connectivity, health, and education. Students view the scale model of a volcano “spewing smoke” at the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology, NSTW is scheduled from July 24-28, 2015 and is open to the public. The volcano scale model is among the biggest attractions in the event which also showcases interactive exhibits, robotics, different weather forecasting equipment, DOST’s Hybrid Road Train, products from small enterprises, Filipino-made technologies, and other scale models. DOST launches Free Wi Fi project, aims for Internet access by 99 percent of Ph by 2016

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is looking to give Internet access to 99 % of the Philippine archipelago by 2016.
The Department believes that maximizing the tons of opportunities on the web could play a vital role in speeding up economic progress, specifically in the underserved and unserved areas.
This was shared by DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo during the official launch of the Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places project of the Department on the opening day of the 2015 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) last July 24, 2015 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
