PAGASA no. 4 among top performing gov’t agencies according to MBC

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA, one of the agencies under the Department of Science and Technology, is one of the top 5 best performing government agencies and offices in the country, according to a survey by the Makati Business Club (MBC).
This was announced in a press statement issued by the MBC last August 11, 2014.

NAST academicians named National Scientists by Malacañang

Four Filipino science experts were officially named National Scientist by President Benigno Aquino III in ceremonies held at Malacañang Palace last August 12, 2014.
They are Academicians Gavino C. Trono Jr. (marine botany), Angel C. Alcala (biological sciences), Roman C. Barba (horticulture), and Edgardo D. Gomez (marine biology).

Nicolas Dy Liacco Ojeda, Jr. (right) takes his oath as deputy executive director of the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICT Office) before Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario G. Montejo. A retired Brigadier General, Ojeda formerly headed the Office of Strategic and Special Studies, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Defense Reform Program and Admin Service of the Department of National Defense. The ICT Office is an agency under the DOST system and is the Philippine government’s lead agency on ICT related matters. Its thrusts are focused on ICT industry development, policy development, internet for all, and cyber security. (S&T Media Service).

The public may now avail of government services faster, more safely and efficiently right in their homes and workplaces through the use of digital certificates.
This becomes possible with the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), an initiative which secures communications among individuals and government agencies when conducting transactions over the Internet.
