Kicking off the 2021 National Science and Technology Week #2021NSTW of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the DOST’s Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) presents a virtual tour that showcases the DOST-PHIVOLCS headquarters in Quezon City from its exterior façade and aerial view to its lobby exhibit area and data receiving center for both earthquake, tsunami and volcano monitoring.
This 360-degree virtual exhibit tour is web-based and accessible to students; teachers and everyone to appreciate better the many innovations developed by DOST-PHIVOLCS to keep our communities safer during the occurrence of natural hazards. The improved processing of ginisang burong dalag [sauteed fermented mud fish] now has 24-26% less salt content and it is more delicious, nutritious, and has a pleasant odor than what was normally manufactured. It also has passed the 365 days shelf-life test.

Ahead of the exhibits, fora, seminars, and workshops, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has once again recognized Philippine excellence in science and technology (S&T) at the opening ceremonies of the 2021 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration this 22 November 2021.
At the NSTW opening ceremonies, the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has conferred four awards in the form of medals, plaques, and cash prizes to research and development (R&D) specialists for their outstanding S&T contributions.
PHL Halal industry to gain traction through Halal lab

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) talked about the huge potential economic gains from Halal products if the government can sustain its support to this niche industry as there is a big demand for several Halal products in the global market at the present. This was revealed in the latest episode of “Siyensikat Popular Science Para sa Lahat,” a program produced by DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute and aired over at CNN Philippines.
